VESA-certified DisplayPort 1.4 fibre cable

This VESA-certified DisplayPort 1.4 fibre cable delivers 32.4 Gbps bandwidth for 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz. It suits gamers and creators who need long, reliable links between a GPU and a high-refresh monitor or VR headset. The male-to-male design plugs directly into standard DisplayPort sockets.

Practical limits of the DP 1.4 interface

DisplayPort 1.4 tops out at 32.4 Gbps using HBR3 and DSC 1.2, so 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz are the highest uncompressed-compatible modes. The cable is backward compatible with DP 1.3, 1.2 and 1.1, but those older ports cannot reach the stated resolutions or refresh rates. Dynamic HDR and HDCP 2.2 require source and sink support.

Build quality and daily implications

Four optical fibres with a single Al-Mylar shield reject electromagnetic interference on long runs. Zinc-alloy shells with piano paint resist cracking, while 24 K gold-plated pins protect the internal transceiver chips. The directional design means the marked source end must face the GPU; reversing it will break the link.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 16 ft length for my 8K 60 Hz setup?

The 16 ft fiber cable is VESA certified for DisplayPort 1.4 and supports 32.4 Gbps bandwidth, enabling 8K at 60 Hz over that distance.

What does the 32.4 Gbps rating mean for my 4K 144 Hz monitor?

32.4 Gbps is the HBR3 bandwidth ceiling of DisplayPort 1.4; it carries 4K at 144 Hz with DSC 1.2 compression and Dynamic HDR.

Does the DisplayPort 1.4 interface cap at 4K 120 Hz or can it reach 8K 60 Hz?

DisplayPort 1.4 with HBR3 reaches 32.4 Gbps, so it supports 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz, not limited to 4K 120 Hz.
