Pro Capture DVI 4K PCIe 2.0 x4

This Magewell capture card adds a single 4K DVI input to desktop workstations via a PCI Express 2.0 x4 slot. It targets producers, integrators and streamers who need reliable ingest of DVI sources up to 4096 x 2160 resolution. On-board scaling and streaming functions reduce host CPU load during live production or recording workflows. The plug-in card form factor fits standard low-profile brackets.

Check PCIe slot and OS compatibility

Verify the host motherboard provides a free PCI Express 2.0 x4 slot or larger; the card will not operate in x1 slots. Confirm the operating system is Windows, macOS or Linux, as driver support is limited to those platforms. Ensure the chassis can accommodate a card measuring 2.7 inches by 3.7 inches without blocking adjacent expansion cards. No external power connector is required beyond the slot.

Replaces USB or single-channel HDMI capture

This card upgrades from external USB capture devices that share bandwidth and introduce latency. It also replaces single-channel HDMI-only cards when the source is native DVI. The jump is worth it for multi-camera setups needing deterministic frame delivery or for installations where rack-mount stability outweighs portability. It does not suit users requiring SDI, HDMI 2.1 or multi-channel input.

Questions about this item

What cables or adapters come with the Pro Capture DVI 4K card, and do I need to buy a DVI cable separately?

The card is a plug-in board with a DVI input; no cables are included, so a DVI cable must be purchased separately.

The card is listed as a single 4K channel — is there a multi-channel version I should consider instead?

This model provides one capture channel at up to 4096 x 2160; Magewell does not offer a multi-channel variant of this specific Pro Capture DVI 4K card.

Will the PCI Express 2.0 x4 slot deliver enough bandwidth for full 4096 x 2160 capture without dropping frames?

The x4 lane PCI Express 2.0 interface supplies sufficient throughput for uncompressed 4096 x 2160 capture and on-board scaling or streaming.
