Tool-free USB 3.2 Gen1 enclosure with aluminium heatsink holds B-key or B+M-key M.2 SATA SSDs from 2230 to 2280mm
This enclosure turns a B-Key or B+M-Key M.2 SATA SSD into a portable USB drive. It accepts 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors up to 4TB and works with Windows, macOS and Linux without drivers. The tool-free sliding case lets you swap drives in seconds. It does not support M.2 PCIe NVMe or AHCI SSDs.
The INIC3639 chipset delivers 5Gbps over USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A and can reach practical speeds of 6Gbps on Windows 8 or newer when UASP is active. An integrated aluminium heat sink keeps the drive cool during sustained transfers. The single-bay design handles one SATA SSD at a time and offers no RAID or multi-drive expansion.
It replaces bare SATA-to-USB dongles by adding a protective heatsink enclosure and a stable Type-A connection. The jump is worth it when you need reliable thermals for long clones or backups and want a cable-free form factor that fits in a laptop bag. It will not help if you need NVMe support or multiple simultaneous drives.

Yes, the USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A interface is backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports, though transfer speeds will be limited to the older port's maximum.
In Windows 8 or later, open Device Manager, check that the UASP protocol is active for the device, then run a sequential read test — speeds approaching 6Gbps confirm correct operation.
No tools or thermal pads are required; the tool-free sliding casing clicks shut and the aluminium alloy heat sink makes direct contact with the drive for cooling.
