Purpose and audience

The Maxell EB-96 are wired in-ear earbuds with a USB-C connector. They suit students, office workers and home-based professionals who need a simple stereo headset for calls and media playback on modern laptops, tablets or phones.

Sustained-use behaviour

The fixed cable removes any concern about battery depletion during long meetings or study sessions. Stereo drivers deliver consistent audio for voice and music, while the inline microphone stays active for the full duration of a call.

Thermals, noise and power

Passive operation means no fan noise, no heat build-up and negligible power draw from the host device. The lightweight in-ear fit remains comfortable over extended periods without the warmth associated with over-ear designs.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise do the EB-96 earbuds generate during all-day use?

The EB-96 earbuds are passive wired earbuds with no internal power source, so they produce no heat and no electronic noise during extended listening sessions.

What device must I already own for the USB-C plug on the EB-96 to work?

You need a device with a USB-C port that supports digital audio output, such as a modern smartphone, laptop or tablet, because the earbuds draw power and signal directly from that port.

Will the EB-96 earbuds work on the same computer that still has my older USB-A headset connected?

Yes, the EB-96 uses a separate USB-C connection, so it can operate alongside a USB-A headset as long as the computer has both port types available and the OS allows multiple audio endpoints.
