Megaware KeelGuard 6' Black winter accessory

DIY Keel Protection

Megaware KeelGuard is a self-adhesive strip that shields a boat’s keel from abrasion caused by sand, rocks and ramp launches. The polymer-and-urethane blend resists wear while remaining flexible enough to follow the hull contour. Its pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds permanently and seals the contoured edges against water ingress. Angled grooves create hydrodynamic channels that reduce drag across the protected surface.

Practical Limits of Adhesive Bonding

The protector relies on a clean, dry and structurally sound gelcoat for permanent adhesion. Surfaces contaminated by wax, oil or flaking paint will prevent the adhesive from sealing the edges. Extreme hull flex or existing laminate damage can also compromise the bond over time. Installation must be performed in conditions that allow the adhesive to cure fully before the boat returns to the water.

Six-Foot Coverage Length

The six-foot roll protects a single keel section of that exact length. Boats with longer keels or multiple wear zones will need additional rolls to achieve full coverage. Buyers who need a wider strip or a different profile for a non-standard hull shape cannot use this product. Eleven colours are available to match most gelcoat finishes.
