Splits a 200Gb/s HDR link into two 100Gb/s QSFP56 connections over 10m of fibre
This Mellanox active optical cable splits a single 200Gb/s QSFP56 port into two 100Gb/s QSFP56 links over ten metres. It targets data-centre operators and HPC clusters that need high-density InfiniBand HDR connectivity between switches, servers or storage nodes. The assembly is supplied new and ready for immediate deployment.
Before ordering, confirm that the 200Gb/s end connects to a QSFP56 port configured for 2x100Gb/s breakout mode. Check that the remote equipment presents two separate QSFP56 receptacles and that your switch firmware or OS enables the logical split. Ensure the ten-metre reach matches the rack-to-rack or row-to-row distance in your layout.
As an active optical cable it draws modest power from the host ports and generates minimal heat compared with copper alternatives. No fans or moving parts are present, so acoustic output is effectively zero in normal operation. The fibre construction eliminates electromagnetic interference, keeping signal integrity stable across the full length.

The assembly arrives as a single 10 m active optical cable with a QSFP56 plug on one end and two QSFP56 plugs on the other; no extra transceivers are required.
Select this breakout when the switch port runs at 200 Gbit/s and you need to connect two separate 100 Gbit/s ports on servers or storage nodes.
It provides a 200 Gbit/s InfiniBand HDR lane from the switch that splits into two independent 100 Gbit/s lanes at the server ends, each carrying full line-rate traffic over 10 m.
