It also records from a PC or external source onto blank tapes using the reverse recording function. A 3.5 mm audio output lets you connect the included headphones or feed a larger speaker system.

Included accessories for digitising and listening

A mini software CD and USB data cable provide the tools to transfer converted MP3 files to a computer for permanent storage. The supplied headphones plug straight into the 3.5 mm jack for private listening, while the removable belt clip makes the unit easy to carry during outdoor use.

Power and compatibility checks before ordering

The device runs on two AA batteries, which are not supplied, or draws power from a PC via the USB cable. Verify that you have a computer with a USB port and a CD drive if you intend to install the bundled software. Blank cassettes are required if you plan to record from the PC or radio onto tape.

Questions about this item

Will the cassette mechanism need belt or head cleaning later?

The unit plays and records tapes, so periodic head cleaning with a standard cassette cleaner will maintain sound quality; belts are not user-serviceable.

What limits continuous recording from the built-in radio or line-in?

Recording runs while the cassette turns; each side stops at the tape end, so you must flip or swap the cassette to continue.

How much heat or fan noise appears when the player runs all day on USB power?

The device has no fan and draws low power from USB or AA batteries, so it stays cool and silent during extended use.
