Practical limits of the CAT6A 10 Gbps standard

CAT6A supports 10 Gbps over the full 100 m channel, but these patch cords are only 3 ft long. They are intended for short cross-connects between patch panels, switches and servers inside a cabinet. The 28 AWG gauge increases insertion loss, so they must not replace horizontal runs or longer patch cables in a certified channel. Tight bends or excessive bundling can further degrade margin.

The fixed 3 ft length suits adjacent equipment in the same rack or cabinet; it will not reach between separated racks or to a distant wall outlet.
