Power Supply for Surface Devices

The Microsoft 1735 is a 24W AC adapter built for Surface Pro, Surface Pro X, Surface Go, Surface Go 2, Surface Go 3 and Surface Laptop Studio. It delivers 15V output to recharge the internal battery and keep the tablet running during use. Buyers who need a higher-wattage charger for larger Surface Book or Surface Laptop models cannot use this unit.

Output Specifications Determine Compatibility

The adapter provides 24W at 15V, matching the power requirement of the listed Surface tablets. A device that draws more current than this rating will not charge correctly or may drain while plugged in. The fixed voltage and wattage are the only figures that decide whether the part fits the machine.

Simple Plug-In Installation

The barrel connector inserts directly into the Surface charging port with no tools or drivers required. The compact brick measures 2.60 x 1.80 x 1.10 in and weighs between .30 and .33 lb, so it fits easily in a bag. The most common issue is using the adapter with an unsupported model, which results in no charging or intermittent power.

Questions about this item

What does the 24 W rating mean for charging my Surface?

The 24 W rating is the maximum power the 1735 adapter can deliver at 15 V, so a depleted Surface will draw up to that level until the battery reaches capacity.

Which connector standard does the 1735 use, and what does it limit?

The 1735 uses Microsoft's proprietary Surface Connect port, which caps output at 15 V and 24 W for the supported Surface Pro, Pro X, Go, Go 2, Go 3 and Laptop Studio models.

Will the 2.60 x 1.80 x 1.10 in brick fit in my bag pocket?

The adapter measures 2.60 x 1.80 x 1.10 in (66.04 x 45.72 x 27.94 mm) and weighs between 0.30 and 0.33 lb (136.08–149.69 g), making it small enough for most accessory pockets.
