Surface Laptop 4 15-inch Intel Core i7

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 15.0 runs on an Intel Core i7-1185G7 quad-core processor with a turbo frequency up to 4.80 GHz and 12 MB L3 cache. It includes 8 GB LPDDR4X memory and a 512 GB SSD. The 15.0-inch touchscreen offers a 2496 x 1664 resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio with 10 point multi-touch. Graphics are handled by integrated Intel Iris Xe using shared system memory. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This device suits professionals who value a 3:2 productivity display, Windows Hello face sign-in, and a TPM 2.0 chip for enterprise security. It supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 for modern wireless workflows. Buyers who need more than 8 GB of memory or a discrete graphics card for intensive rendering should consider other configurations. It is also not for users who require multiple USB-C ports or an internal optical drive.

Deciding specification: 8 GB LPDDR4X memory soldered

The 8 GB LPDDR4X memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded after purchase. This single detail determines whether the laptop can handle your workload long-term. If your applications regularly exceed this capacity, you will need a model with higher memory. The 512 GB SSD provides fast storage, but memory capacity remains the fixed constraint.
