Surface Laptop 4 15-inch for professionals

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 model 5L1-00024 is a 15.0-inch notebook built around an Intel Core i7-1185G7 quad-core processor with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.80 GHz. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and includes a 512 GB solid-state drive for fast storage. The chassis comes in a Platinum finish and the package contains a power supply, quick start guide, and safety documents.

Suited to office work.

This device suits professionals who need a sharp 3:2 PixelSense touchscreen with 10-point multi-touch for document review, video calls, and light creative tasks. Enterprise features include a TPM 2.0 chip, BitLocker support, and Windows Hello face sign-in. Buyers who require discrete graphics, more than 8 GB of memory, or additional USB-C ports should look elsewhere.

8 GB LPDDR4X soldered memory decides fit

The system uses 8 GB of LPDDR4X memory that cannot be upgraded after purchase, so the amount of RAM is fixed for the life of the laptop. Integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics shares this memory, which limits performance in demanding 3D or video workloads. If your workflow demands user-replaceable memory or higher graphics power, this specification makes the unit unsuitable.

Questions about this item

Does the 15.0 inch chassis use a standard VESA mount or proprietary brackets?

The Surface Laptop 4 5L1-00024 is a clamshell notebook with no VESA mounting holes or brackets; it is designed for desk or lap use only.

What is the correct order to connect the Surface Connect charger before first boot?

Plug the supplied power supply into the Surface Connect port, wait for the LED to glow, then press the power button; skipping the LED check can leave the battery uncalibrated.

Both the LPDDR4X memory and the SSD are soldered to the motherboard; neither can be upgraded or swapped by the user.
