Front-mount rack shelf for small devices

The Middle Atlantic UFA-8 is a 1U universal rack shelf that fits in the front or rear of a standard rack. It provides a flat 8-inch deep surface for mounting compact equipment such as modems, switches or power strips. A unique faceplate can be attached after the shelf is populated, giving a clean finished appearance.

Suits installers needing shallow front access.

This shelf works well for technicians who want to keep small devices accessible at the front of a cabinet without using full-depth shelving. It is not suited for equipment deeper than 8 inches or for loads that require a fully enclosed tray. Builders needing adjustable depth or rear-only mounting should consider alternative shelf styles.

1U height and 8-inch depth define the usable space

The shelf occupies a single rack unit and extends 8 inches from the mounting rails. This fixed depth determines which devices fit without overhang. Verify that your hardware dimensions match these limits before specifying the UFA-8 for a rack build.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the UFA-8 shelf is holding equipment securely after I mount it?

Verify that the shelf sits level in the 1U opening, that the front or rear faceplate snaps on cleanly, and that cables routed through the management openings remain organised without sagging.

What ships with the UFA-8 and what must I source separately?

The package includes the 8-inch deep rack shelf and its mounting hardware; you will need to supply the rack cabinet, cage nuts or screws for your specific rail threading, and any faceplate if you want the covered look.

Which version of the UFA-8 should I choose for my rack depth?

The UFA-8 is a single 8-inch deep model; select it when your usable rack depth is at least 8 inches and you need a 1U shelf for front or rear mounting of small devices.
