Brass mending plates for repair
This pack supplies five solid brass plates measuring two inches by five eighths of an inch each. They are intended for woodworkers, hobbyists and anyone mending split or cracked timber. The brass construction resists corrosion in damp or outdoor settings.
Replaces basic steel brackets
Brass plates substitute for plain steel mending brackets when rust staining is unacceptable. The upgrade is worth it for visible furniture repairs, marine projects or restoration work where appearance matters. They are not suited for heavy structural loads that require thicker steel or engineered connectors.
Limited by screw choice and wood strength
Holding power depends on the screws used and the density of the timber receiving them. Brass is softer than steel so over-tightening can strip threads. The thin profile restricts use to surface reinforcement rather than deep joint repair.

Questions about this item
What size screws fit the 2" x 5/8" mending plates?
The plates measure 2 inches by 5/8 inches; choose screws that match the pre-drilled hole diameter and are long enough to penetrate both the plate and the substrate.
How do I install the plates without splitting the wood?
Drill pilot holes slightly smaller than the screw shank, align the plate, then drive screws straight in to avoid splitting the material.
Will the solid brass plates corrode outdoors and need replacement?
Solid brass resists rust and corrosion, so the plates typically last for years outdoors without needing replacement.
