Wireless access point for ceiling or wall mount

The Mikrotik cAP ac is a dual-band 802.11 ac access point designed for flush ceiling or wall installation. Its circular enclosure delivers 360-degree wireless coverage on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. A single PoE input port powers the unit while a second port provides passive PoE output for downstream devices.

Ideal for simple wireless expansion not

Home owners and small offices wanting a single inconspicuous AP with dual-chain radios and RouterOS scripting will find it fits well. Installations that require multi-gigabit uplinks, more than two Ethernet ports, higher RAM or storage for heavy routing tables should consider other hardware.

Dual-chain concurrent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio

The IPQ-4018 CPU at 716 MHz with 128 MB RAM and 16 MB flash drives simultaneous dual-band operation on 2412-2462 MHz and 5170-5250/5725-5835 MHz ranges. This radio configuration determines whether the unit meets the coverage and client-density needs of the target space.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the cAP ac and power it with PoE on the first Ethernet port?

Mount the unit on a wall or ceiling, connect the first 10/100/1000 Ethernet port to an 802.3 at/ac PoE source, then use the second port for passive PoE output if you need to power another device.

Which components may need replacement after extended operation?

The 128 MB RAM and 16 MB flash storage are soldered and not user-replaceable; the IPQ-4018 CPU at 716 MHz and the two Ethernet ports are also fixed, so no field-serviceable parts exist.

What thermal or radio limit appears first during continuous high-throughput use?

Sustained load on the dual-chain 2.4 GHz (2412-2462 MHz) and 5 GHz (5170-5250/5725-5835 MHz) radios with the 716 MHz CPU will hit thermal or throughput limits before the 128 MB memory fills.
