  • Powered by USB, passive PoE or DC jack
  • Second Ethernet port delivers up to 500 mA to another device
  • Compact design suited to mobile or fixed installations

Micro access point for portable networks

The Mikrotik RBmAP2nD is a compact dual-chain 2.4 GHz wireless access point that runs full RouterOS. It suits travellers, field technicians and small-office setups that need a lightweight device powered from USB, passive PoE or a standard jack.

Dual-chain 2.4 GHz radio with passive PoE out

The radio operates only on the 2.4 GHz band using two spatial streams, so throughput is limited by that single frequency and by the passive PoE implementation on the second Ethernet port. That second port can supply up to 500 mA to another device such as a CPE unit, but it does not negotiate active PoE standards.

Simple USB power, watch the PoE polarity

Plug the unit into any USB charger, passive PoE source or the DC jack and it boots RouterOS within seconds. Configuration is done through WinBox or WebFig; the main pitfall is connecting active PoE gear to the passive injector port, which can damage both devices.

Questions about this item

Is the dual-chain 2.4 GHz radio the only wireless option on this unit?

Yes, the mAP provides a single dual-chain radio operating at 2.4 GHz; there is no second band or additional radio.

What throughput can I expect from the dual-chain 2.4 GHz link in a typical installation?

The dual-chain design supports two spatial streams on 2.4 GHz, so real-world speed depends on channel width, interference and client capability rather than a single headline figure.

What does the passive PoE output on the second Ethernet port actually deliver?

The second port can supply up to 500 mA to another device, letting you power a compatible CPE or similar unit directly from the mAP.
