Permanent DVD storage for archives

Millenniata M-DISC DVD-R media stores 4.7 GB on a rock-like layer designed to resist heat, humidity and light for up to 1,000 years. The 25-disc spindle uses inkjet-printable surfaces so you can label each disc directly. Recording speed reaches 4X for video and data backups.

Check drive and print hardware first

Your DVD writer must specifically support M-DISC recording; standard DVD-R drives cannot engrave the inorganic layer. Confirm the drive firmware lists M-DISC compatibility before ordering. An inkjet printer with printable-disc support is required if you intend to use the printable surface; thermal or hub printers will not work.

Fits single-drive backup workflows

Each disc holds 4.7 GB, so large collections span multiple discs and need manual swapping during writes. The spindle packaging keeps the 25 discs organised on a shelf without jewel cases. No special software beyond standard burning tools is required once the drive and printer are verified.

Questions about this item

Does the 25-disc spindle include any cases or sleeves, or must they be purchased separately?

The product ships as a 25-disc spindle only; no cases or sleeves are included and must be bought separately.

Should I choose the 25-disc spindle or the 50-disc combo pack mentioned in the notes?

Choose the 25-disc spindle for smaller archival jobs; the 50-disc combo pack suits larger backups or shared use.

What does the 1000-year claim mean when I actually write data to these discs?

The rock-like recording layer resists light, heat and humidity so written data remains readable for up to 1000 years under normal storage.
