Fixed wireless access point for ISPs

The Mimosa A5c is a carrier-grade 4x4:4 MU-MIMO access point built for unlicensed fixed wireless networks. It targets service providers who need high client throughput and dense sector capacity in a single rugged unit. Integrated GPS synchronisation allows network-wide channel reuse without external timing hardware.

Replaces unsynchronised sector radios

Operators using older APs that lack built-in GPS sync can collapse timing infrastructure and reclaim spectrum through precise TDD alignment. The upgrade is worth it when spectrum efficiency and 1.5 Gbps aggregate sector capacity become limiting factors for subscriber growth. It does not suit deployments that rely on licensed spectrum or fibre backhaul exclusively.

Pole-mount installation with N-type antennas

The IP67 enclosure mounts directly on a mast and connects to four external N-female antennas, so installers must supply and align the correct sector antennas for the desired coverage pattern. Common issues include incorrect antenna spacing that degrades MU-MIMO performance and loose N connectors that allow water ingress. GPS antenna placement also requires clear sky view for stable synchronisation.

Questions about this item

What IP rating does the A5c access point have for outdoor mounting?

The unit carries an IP67 rating, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water.

How is GPS synchronization enabled on the A5c and what common step is missed?

Each A5c has integrated GPS; the step often missed is ensuring the antenna has a clear sky view so the receiver can lock to satellites for network-wide sync.

What ongoing maintenance does the A5c require after installation?

Periodically inspect the N-Female connectors and cables for corrosion or water ingress, and verify the GPS antenna remains unobstructed for continued synchronization.
