A corded IP phone with a 160 x 320 back-lit display, 48 programmable self-labeling keys and wide-band audio
The Mitel 5340 IP Phone is a corded VoIP handset designed for professionals who need extensive programmable line appearances. It provides a large back-lit graphics display measuring 160 x 320 pixels with auto dimming. Forty-eight self-labeling keys are arranged across three pages of sixteen keys each. Thirteen fixed function keys handle hold, settings, messaging, speaker, mute, transfer, conference, redial and home.
Superior sound quality is delivered through wide-band audio support on both the handset and the hands-free full-duplex speakerphone. Six context-sensitive soft keys give intuitive access to call-state features. A browser-based desktop tool allows easy user programming and key labeling without specialized software. Language support covers English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch.
The phone includes a built-in HTML toolkit that enables desktop application development directly on the device. This extends functionality beyond standard telephony for custom business workflows. Buyers who need wireless mobility or a smaller desk footprint should consider alternative form factors. The corded design ensures consistent power and network connectivity for stationary workstations.

Connect the handset cord, plug an Ethernet cable into the LAN port, then power the phone via PoE or the optional 48 V adapter; the step often missed is enabling the browser-based desktop tool to program the 48 self-labeling keys across three pages of 16.
The back-lit graphics display may dim over years of use, the 13 fixed function keys and 6 context sensitive soft keys can wear from heavy pressing, and the handset cord or Ethernet cable may need replacement if damaged.
The 160 x 320 back-lit display with auto dimming reduces brightness after prolonged operation to manage heat, which is the first noticeable limit during continuous daily use.
