What this projector is

The Mitsubishi XD600U is a new DLP home-theatre projector rated at 4500 ANSI lumens. It includes built-in speakers and a range of inputs such as HDMI, VGA, composite, S-Video, RJ45 and RS232. The unit is designed for table-top or ceiling mounting with tilt adjustment. It suits buyers who need a bright, multipurpose projector for presentations or video playback in rooms with some ambient light.

Resolution and video capability

Native resolution is 1024x768 with a 2000:1 contrast ratio. The projector accepts 1080i HD signals and scales them to the native panel. This specification decides whether the image detail meets your needs; buyers who require full 1080p or 4K native resolution should look elsewhere.

Brightness headroom and limits

At 4500 lumens the XD600U comfortably fills screens in moderately lit living rooms or classrooms. Contrast of 2000:1 provides acceptable black levels for video, though dark-room home-cinema enthusiasts may find shadow detail limited. The lamp and filter have been cleaned to maintain output and extend service life.
