Mitsubishi XL5980U replacement lamp

The Mitsubishi XL5980U lamp module uses a 270W SHP bulb inside a pre-assembled housing that matches the VLT-XL5950LP specification. It is built for users who need a direct replacement without handling a bare bulb. Rated life reaches 1000 hours in normal mode or 2000 hours in economy mode.

Check projector model and lamp hours before ordering

Confirm that your projector lists the XL5980U or VLT-XL5950LP as the correct lamp code. Verify the existing lamp counter so you can reset it after installation. Ensure the projector is powered off and cooled before you open the lamp door.

Fits Mitsubishi projectors using the VLT-XL5950LP

The complete housing slides into the lamp compartment and locks with the existing screws, requiring no extra tools or adapters. A fresh module restores full brightness and colour accuracy while the old housing is recycled. The lamp is manufactured under ISO9001 quality controls.

Questions about this item

Does the Mitsubishi XL5980U lamp arrive as a complete module or do I need to buy a housing separately?

The lamp ships as a fully assembled module with a new 270W SHP bulb already fitted inside the housing, so no extra parts are required for installation.

How do the OEM, OEM-compatible and third-party compatible versions of the VLT-XL5950LP differ?

Three OEM versions come from Philips, Osram, Ushio, Phoenix, Iwasaki or Matsushita — either the original bulb maker, Mitsubishi's own supply, or another OEM source — while the compatible version uses genuine OEM parts from a leading third-party manufacturer; all meet ISO9001 quality checks.

What does the 1000-hour normal and 2000-hour economy rating mean for daily use?

In normal mode the 270W lamp is rated for about 1000 hours of operation, and switching to economy mode extends the rated life to roughly 2000 hours before replacement is needed.
