What this cable connects

This 12 ft Toslink optical audio cable links devices with full-sized S/PDIF ports. It carries uncompressed 2-channel PCM or compressed multichannel formats such as DTS and Dolby 5.1 and 7.1 between consoles, home-theatre receivers and soundbars. Male-to-male connectors fit standard square optical sockets on each end. The optical path avoids electrical crosstalk and radio-frequency interference.

Signal integrity and durability

Light pulses travel through the internal fibre instead of electrical current, so magnetic fields and ground loops do not degrade the audio. A heavy-duty metal mesh jacket shields the fibre from nicks, cuts and kinks during routing. Square metal connector heads add mechanical strength at the termination points. The construction is rated for permanent in-wall or behind-rack installation.

Lifetime warranty coverage

Monoprice backs the cable with a lifetime warranty that replaces a defective unit at no cost. The guarantee covers connector failure, jacket damage and fibre breakage under normal use. No registration or proof of purchase beyond the original order is required. Buyers who need longer runs or angled connectors must select a different model.

Questions about this item

How do I fit the square metal Toslink connectors on this 12 ft cable without damaging the port?

Align the squared metal head with the port’s keyed opening and push straight in until it clicks; forcing it at an angle bends the internal fiber.

Will the mesh jacket or optical fiber need replacement after extended use?

The metal mesh jacket protects the fiber from nicks and kinks, and the optical core does not degrade, so no scheduled replacement is required.

At what length does signal loss appear first on a 12 ft Toslink run?

At 12 feet the cable stays well within the low-loss range for uncompressed PCM and compressed 5.1 or 7.1 audio, so attenuation is not the limiting factor.
