Solid copper plenum cable for permanent installs

This Monoprice Cat5e bulk cable comes in a 1000 ft white roll with 24 AWG solid bare copper conductors. It carries a CMP plenum fire rating and a 350 MHz bandwidth rating. The construction meets UL 444 and TIA-568-C.2 requirements for communications wiring.

Suits installers pulling cable through

The plenum jacket and solid conductors are intended for fixed runs in walls, ceilings and raised floors where fire code mandates CMP rating. It is not suited for patch cords or any application that requires flexible stranded conductors and repeated movement.

CMP plenum fire rating

This single specification determines whether the cable is permitted in your building's plenum spaces. If local code requires CMP, this roll complies; if the installation is not in a plenum area, a lower-rated cable may be acceptable.

Questions about this item

Will the solid 24 AWG copper conductors need re-termination after years of patch-panel use?

Solid 24 AWG pure bare copper conductors hold their shape in punch-down blocks and keystone jacks, so re-termination is rarely needed unless a connector is physically damaged.

What performance limit appears first when the 350 MHz bandwidth cable runs near its 100 metre channel maximum?

At the full 100 metre channel length the 350 MHz bandwidth margin narrows, so insertion loss and alien crosstalk become the limiting factors before the cable rating itself.

Does the CMP plenum jacket add noticeable heat or stiffness when the 1000 ft roll is pulled through a hot ceiling space all day?

The CMP plenum jacket is low-smoke and flame-retardant; it does not generate heat, and its stiffness is comparable to other plenum-rated solid-conductor cables during installation.
