In-ceiling speaker pair for home theatre

The Monoprice 134707 Caliber Slim speakers are a pair of 8-inch two-way drivers designed for home theatre installations. Over 100,000 pairs of the Caliber series have been sold worldwide since 2008. The updated Slim Line retains the original sonic signature while introducing a slimmer bezel for a modern appearance.

Aramid fiber and titanium silk driver materials

Aramid fiber woofers provide light, rigid cones for clean bass reproduction with reduced distortion. Titanium silk dome tweeters deliver warm, detailed high frequencies and clear vocals. The tweeters pivot to direct sound toward the listening position. These material choices define the speaker's acoustic character.

Compatibility with existing Caliber accessories

The speakers remain compatible with current Caliber series rough-in brackets, ABS back cans, and installation kits. This allows integration into existing or planned infrastructure without changing mounting hardware. Buyers needing wireless connectivity or active amplification will find neither feature in this passive speaker pair.

Questions about this item

Will the aramid-fiber woofer or titanium-silk tweeter need periodic replacement?

The aramid-fiber woofer and titanium-silk dome tweeter are built for long-term use with no scheduled replacement interval; the pivoting tweeter mechanism is also designed to hold its aim without routine servicing.

What limits output first during extended playback — amplifier clipping or driver thermal compression?

The 8-inch aramid-fiber woofer handles sustained bass cleanly, so the practical ceiling is usually the connected amplifier running out of headroom before the drivers reach thermal compression.

Do the speakers add noticeable heat or noise to a room when running all day?

Passive in-ceiling speakers generate no fan noise and negligible heat; only the external amplifier produces warmth, so the room stays quiet and cool during all-day listening.
