What the switch does

The Monoprice 144435 Blackbird Prosumer 8K60 2x1 HDMI switch selects between two HDMI sources and sends the chosen signal to one display. It supports video up to 8K60 4:2:0 10 bit and 4K120 4:4:4 10 bit. HDMI 2.1 and HDCP 2.3 compliance provides 40Gbps bandwidth. Audio extraction outputs LPCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby True HD, DTS and DTS-HD Master Audio to analog or digital optical connections.

Check your sources and display

Verify that each source device and the display have HDMI ports compatible with the resolutions you need. The switch handles EDID management to prioritise the desired resolution. Ensure you have an HDMI cable rated for the required bandwidth between each device and the switch. Confirm your audio receiver accepts either analog stereo or digital optical input for the extracted signal.

How it fits in a system

The unit weighs 1.12 and sits between two source devices such as a console, streaming stick or PC and a single display. It frees up the display’s HDMI ports by consolidating two inputs into one. Extracted audio routes separately to a soundbar, AV receiver or powered speakers without using the display’s audio return channel. IR remote control allows input switching without reaching behind the equipment.
