12 ft RG6/U 75 ohm coaxial cable

This twelve-foot coaxial cable uses RG-6/U construction with double copper braid shielding to protect S/PDIF digital audio, composite video and other line-level RCA signals from EMI and RFI interference. The CL2-rated jacket meets fire-safety requirements for in-wall installation in residential buildings. Model 102682 is supplied new with a lifetime warranty from Monoprice Inc.

CL2 in-wall rating

The CL2 rating means the cable jacket complies with fire-safety regulations, allowing the cable to be routed through or inside residential walls without additional conduit. This makes the cable suitable for permanent home-theatre or whole-house audio runs where building codes apply. Standard non-rated cables cannot be used for this purpose.

75 ohm impedance for digital coax

The 75 ohm characteristic impedance matches the requirement for S/PDIF digital coax and subwoofer connections, preventing signal reflections that cause jitter or drop-outs. Cables with a different impedance are not appropriate for these digital audio applications.

Questions about this item

Will the RG6/U 75 ohm coaxial cable need replacement if the double copper braid shielding degrades over time?

The double copper braid shielding is built to resist EMI and RFI interference for the life of the cable; Monoprice provides a lifetime warranty on all cables.

What length limit applies before signal loss becomes noticeable on this 12 ft RG6/U cable?

At 12 ft the RG6/U construction keeps attenuation low for S/PDIF, digital coax, subwoofer and composite video signals.

Does the CL2-rated jacket affect heat dissipation when the cable runs continuously behind walls?

The CL2 rating confirms the jacket meets fire-safety standards for in-wall residential use; the passive coaxial design generates no heat of its own.
