Extension cord — 15 ft 16 AWG 13 A

This 15 ft power extension cord carries a NEMA 5-15P plug on one end and a NEMA 5-15R receptacle on the other. It is built with 16 AWG conductors rated for 13 A continuous current. The black jacket suits indoor routing behind desks or equipment racks. Model 105301 is supplied new with a lifetime warranty.

Who should use this and who should not

It suits anyone who needs to bridge a short gap between a wall outlet and a device with a standard IEC or NEMA 5-15 power cord. Builders who require a longer run, a heavier gauge for high-draw appliances, or an outdoor-rated jacket should look at a different cable. The cord is not intended for permanent installation inside walls.

Deciding specification — 13 A at 16 AWG

The 13 A rating on 16 AWG wire is the single figure that determines whether this cord can handle your load. Add the nameplate amps of every device you plan to connect; if the total exceeds 13 A you must choose a heavier gauge. No other specification in the data changes that limit.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 15 ft length or a shorter cord for my setup?

The 15.00 ft length gives extra reach for devices far from the wall outlet; pick a shorter cord only if you need less slack to avoid tripping hazards.

What does the 13 A rating mean when I plug this into a real outlet?

The cord handles up to 13 A continuous current, so it safely powers typical household appliances rated at or below that draw.

How do the NEMA 5-15P and 5-15R connectors limit what I can plug in?

The 5-15P plug fits standard grounded outlets and the 5-15R receptacle accepts standard three-prong plugs, capping use to 13 A devices.
