A 10 ft Cat5e patch cable with 24 AWG pure bare copper conductors, 350 MHz bandwidth, 50 µm gold-plated RJ45 contacts and snagless strain-relief boots
The Monoprice 11236 is a 10 ft Cat5e patch cord built with 24 AWG stranded pure bare copper conductors. It targets home and office users who need a reliable wired link for routers, switches, PCs or network-attached storage at up to 350 MHz bandwidth.
Snagless strain-relief boots protect the RJ45 tabs from breaking during repeated insertion and removal. Gold-plated contacts rated at 50 micro-inches resist corrosion better than the 10 micro-inch plating found on many budget cables, preserving signal integrity over time.
The unshielded twisted-pair construction uses 100 percent bare copper rather than copper-clad aluminium, meeting UL 444 and TIA-568-C fire and safety requirements. The flexible jacket and colour-matched boots make routing through tight cable-management channels straightforward for permanent or temporary installs.

The 50-micron gold plating on the contacts resists corrosion far better than the 10-micron layer found on budget cables, so they maintain low resistance through many mating cycles.
The cable is rated for 350 MHz bandwidth, which is the frequency limit that governs maximum sustained data rates on the link.
Stranded 24 AWG pure bare copper has slightly higher resistance per metre than solid core, but at 10 ft the temperature rise under normal network loads is negligible.
