Monoprice DT-3 50-Watt Powered Speakers

The Monoprice DT-3 is a pair of powered desktop speakers with a built-in 50-watt Class AB amplifier. It uses 3.5-inch polypropylene woofers and 0.75-inch silk dome tweeters in ported MDF cabinets tuned for near-field listening. The system includes 3.5 mm, RCA, and 1/4-inch balanced TRS inputs plus a front headphone jack that mutes the speakers. It suits desktop audio, gaming, and home office setups.

Best for Near-Field Desktop Listening

These speakers suit users who want accurate sound at close range from a compact powered system. The multiple analogue inputs connect computers, mobile devices, and professional gear without adapters. Buyers needing wireless streaming or a separate subwoofer output should look at other models. The design focuses on wired near-field performance rather than room-filling volume or smart features.

40 Watts RMS and Near-Field Tuning

The amplifier delivers 40 watts RMS continuous power into the custom-tuned ported cabinets. This specification determines the clean output level available for desktop monitoring and multimedia use. The near-field frequency response tuning optimises clarity at typical listening distances. Check that this power level matches the volume requirements of your workspace.

Questions about this item

How loud can the 50-watt Class AB amplifier go before distortion becomes obvious?

The amplifier delivers 40 watts RMS per channel, which is the continuous clean output level for near-field listening.

Do the 3.5-inch polypropylene woofers or 0.75-inch silk dome tweeters run hot or make fan noise during all-day use?

There is no fan; the Class AB amplifier and ported MDF cabinet dissipate heat passively, so the speakers stay silent when idle and warm only at high volume.

Which source cables come in the box so I can plug straight into a computer or phone?

A 3.5 mm stereo cable and a pair of RCA cables are included, plus speaker wire to link the powered and passive cabinets.
