Viper Series 12G SDI BNC Cable

This Monoprice Viper Series cable carries UHD-SDI video signals over a short RG-12 coaxial run. It is built for studio, mobile-truck or home installations that need reliable 4K 60 Hz transport. The 0.5 foot length suits patch-bay or rack-to-rack connections where excess slack is unwanted.

75-ohm BNC connectors and dual shielding

True 75-ohm BNC male connectors with gold-plated contacts terminate each end, while dual copper and aluminum braided shields protect the solid 16 AWG annealed copper center conductor. Highly foamed PE insulation keeps attenuation low, so the 12 Gbps bandwidth stays clean across the link without needing signal repeaters.

Upgrade path from legacy HD-SDI

The cable replaces older 3 Gbps HD-SDI runs when moving to 4K 60 workflows that demand four times the data rate. It is not suited for longer trunk lines or installations requiring plenum-rated jackets, so buyers needing extended distances or fire-code compliance should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How far can the 12 Gbps signal travel before attenuation becomes the limiting factor?

The cable is 0.5 ft (0.1524 m) long, designed for short-run 12 Gbps UHD-SDI links.

Does the dual copper and aluminum shielding keep the cable cool and quiet during continuous 4K 60 Hz operation?

The cable is passive with no active components, so it generates no heat and makes no noise.

What connectors are required on the camera and recorder for the 75-ohm BNC plugs to mate correctly?

Both ends need standard 75-ohm BNC female ports, common on professional SDI gear.
