Converts coaxial or optical digital audio to analog stereo RCA with 24-bit, 32 to 96 kHz sampling
The Monoprice 6884 converts coaxial or optical Toslink digital stereo audio signals into analog left and right RCA outputs. It handles 24-bit S/PDIF streams at sampling rates of 32, 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz. The unit is intended for home or professional audio switching where a digital source must feed analog amplification.
Verify that your source device outputs two-channel PCM stereo only; multichannel formats such as Dolby Digital or DTS are not supported. Confirm the source provides either a coaxial RCA digital output or an optical Toslink port. Ensure the receiving amplifier or powered speakers accept analog stereo input via RCA jacks.
The converter requires an external power supply to operate; plan for a nearby mains socket. You will need one digital cable — coaxial or optical — from the source and one stereo RCA cable to the amplifier. Electromagnetic-noise-free transmission means no special shielding is required beyond standard cables. It does not pass video signals or multichannel audio.

The package contains the converter unit and a power supply; coaxial and optical cables are sold separately.
Most TVs and consoles output 48 kHz PCM stereo, so leave the converter on its default setting; it will accept any of the listed rates automatically.
The converter accepts a 24-bit S/PDIF stream and outputs analog stereo at the same bit depth, so you preserve the full resolution through the RCA jacks.
