12-Pack Cat6 Orange Patch Cables

These Monoprice Cat6 cables come in a 12-pack of 0.9144 metre orange leads. Each cable uses 24AWG stranded pure bare copper conductors with unshielded twisted pairs rated for 550MHz bandwidth. The 50um gold-plated RJ45 plugs resist corrosion and the Flexboot design makes the retaining clip easier to depress. They suit installers wiring 12, 24, 48 or 96-port patch panels and switches.

Upgrade from Cat5e or older patch cords

Replacing Category 5e or earlier cables with these Cat6 links raises the tested bandwidth to 550MHz and supports gigabit transmission over the full length. The jump is worth it when you are certifying new runs to TIA-568-C.2 or UL 444 fire-safety standards that require pure bare copper rather than copper-clad aluminium. Existing Cat5e runs that already meet current speed needs do not require replacement.

Practical limits of UTP Cat6 at 550MHz

Unshielded twisted-pair construction means the cables are susceptible to electromagnetic interference in dense cable trays or near power lines. The 550MHz rating is a laboratory bandwidth figure; real-world throughput depends on connector quality, termination workmanship and the switching hardware at each end. Runs longer than the standard channel distance will degrade performance regardless of the cable rating.
