Processor and Display

The MSI Katana 15 pairs a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13620H with a 15.6 inch QHD panel running at 165Hz. The 10-core processor reaches 4.9 GHz turbo frequency for responsive gaming and multitasking. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed alongside a Microsoft Office license.

Graphics Memory

The laptop carries an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR6 video memory. This specification determines whether the system can handle modern titles at the native 2560 x 1440 resolution. The 6GB figure in the specifications list appears inconsistent with the manufacturer highlight.

Cooling and Sustained Operation

Cooler Boost 5 manages thermals during extended sessions. The 45W CPU base power and discrete GPU share a chassis measuring 14.13 x 0.98 x 10.2 inches. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 maintain connectivity while the 4-zone RGB keyboard with 99-key anti-ghosting stays active.

Questions about this item

How does the 4.9 GHz turbo speed on the i7-13620H translate to actual gaming frame rates?

The 10-core processor reaches 4.9 GHz on heavy threads, feeding the RTX 4070 fast enough to keep 165 Hz gameplay smooth at 2560 x 1440 in most modern titles.

What external resolution and refresh rate can the HDMI 2.1 port actually drive?

The HDMI 2.1 output supports 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 120 Hz, so a 4K 120 Hz monitor will run at its native refresh without compression.

Will the 14.13 x 10.2 inch footprint fit in a standard 15.6 inch laptop sleeve?

At 14.13 by 10.2 inches and 0.98 inch thick, the chassis matches typical 15.6 inch sleeve dimensions and weighs 4.96 pounds.
