Compact 650 W ATX PSU for GPU builds

The MSI MAG A650GL is a fully modular ATX12V power supply rated at 650 W and certified 80 PLUS Gold. It targets builders who need reliable power for modern graphics cards while keeping cable clutter to a minimum. The unit measures 150 mm in length and uses a single 120 mm fan with fluid dynamic bearing.

Fully modular cabling frees case space

Only the required cables attach to the unit: one 24-pin motherboard connector, two CPU connectors (8/4 pin), four PCIe connectors (8/6 pin), six SATA connectors and three Molex connectors plus a Molex-to-FDD adapter. Flat black cables simplify routing and improve airflow inside the chassis. The 150 mm depth fits most ATX cases without blocking drive bays.

Gold efficiency steadies thermals under load

At up to 90 % typical efficiency the PSU converts more AC power into usable DC power, reducing waste heat during extended gaming or rendering sessions. Active PFC and a full protection suite — OVP, OCP, OTP, OPP, SCP, UVP — maintain stable rails when the +12 V line draws up to 54 A. The 100-240 V input range handles global mains without switching.

Questions about this item

What is the +12 V rail limit on this unit?

The +12 V rail delivers up to 54 A, which is the main capacity ceiling under sustained load.

How loud or hot does the 120 mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing fan get during all-day operation?

The FDB fan runs quietly at low loads and ramps up only when internal temperatures rise, keeping noise and heat modest for continuous use.

Which cables come in the box for a build that needs motherboard, CPU and GPU power?

The package includes a 24-pin motherboard cable, two 8-pin CPU cables and four 8-pin PCIe cables for graphics cards.
