What it does and who it fits

The Musicross adapter converts a factory wired CarPlay system into a wireless one for iPhone models from the 6 series onward running iOS 10 or later. It is built for drivers who want to keep their existing infotainment hardware while removing the physical cable between phone and vehicle. The dongle plugs into the car's USB or Type-C port and pairs via Bluetooth5.0 before handing data traffic to Wi-Fi.

Capacity and headroom

The device supports over 800 vehicle models that already offer wired CarPlay from brands such as Ford, Benz, Lexus, Honda, GM, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen. It handles calls, messages, music, navigation and Siri through the car's native controls including steering wheel buttons, touchscreen and rotary knob. The connection re-establishes automatically on each journey, though performance will degrade in environments with heavy wireless interference.

The deciding specification

This adapter only works with vehicles that have factory wired Apple CarPlay; it adds no CarPlay capability to a head unit that lacks it. Buyers without built-in wired CarPlay cannot use the product, and no software update can create that prerequisite. Firmware updates are available to improve compatibility with supported vehicles.

Questions about this item

Will this adapter work with the USB-A port in my car that already has wired CarPlay?

The adapter plugs into the vehicle's USB or Type-C port and is designed for cars with factory wired CarPlay, fitting over 800 models from brands such as Ford, Benz, Lexus, Honda, GM, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen.

How can I confirm the Bluetooth5.0 connection is active after setup?

After plugging in the dongle, enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the iPhone, pair to the adapter, and the system will hand over to Wi-Fi for sustained wireless CarPlay; the CarPlay interface appearing on the infotainment screen confirms it is working.

What comes in the box and is a separate cable needed for a Type-C port?

The package includes the wireless CarPlay adapter and a USB to Type-C adapter, so no extra cable is required for vehicles with either USB-A or USB-C ports.
