Vertical rack rails for DIY builds

NavePoint 14U vertical rack rails are sold as a pair and designed to support rack-mountable equipment such as servers, routers, patch panels or PDUs. They attach to a desk, wooden frame or other DIY structure using the multiple mounting holes distributed along the full length of each rail. Cold-rolled steel with a black powder-coated finish provides rigidity and a clean appearance for custom installations.

14U capacity with 12-24 threading

The rails provide 14U of vertical mounting space and are pre-tapped with 12-24 threads across every rack unit. Silk-screened unit markings allow quick alignment of equipment. The kit includes enough 12-24 screw sets to populate all 14 rack spaces, so no additional hardware is required for a full build.

Limits of the 12-24 standard

The 12-24 thread pattern is common for network gear and lighter servers but is not rated for the heavier loads that wider threads or cage-nut systems can carry. Mounting strength depends entirely on the surface you fasten the rails to, so a weak backing board will limit the usable capacity well before the steel rails themselves reach their limit.
