  • Copper-clad aluminium construction keeps cost down
  • White PVC jacket with CL2 rating meets in-wall code

Application scope

This 500 ft bulk speaker wire serves home, car and office audio installations where long runs are required. The 18 AWG gauge with four conductors suits stereo and multi-zone setups. CL2 rating allows in-wall routing. Builders needing plenum-rated cable or heavier gauge for very long distances should look elsewhere.

Interface limits

Four copper-clad aluminium conductors each comprise 43 strands of 0.16 mm wire, giving flexibility for tight bends. The white PVC jacket meets CL2 fire-safety requirements for residential walls. CCA construction has higher resistance than pure copper, so voltage drop increases with length. Runs beyond the supplied 500 ft spool will need additional joins.

Deciding specification

The single figure that determines suitability is the 18 AWG conductor size combined with the 500 ft continuous length. Match this gauge to your amplifier power and speaker impedance; if the system demands lower resistance per metre, a thicker gauge is required.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 500 ft bulk roll or a shorter length for my installation?

The 500 ft bulk roll suits whole-home or multi-room runs. Measure each speaker distance, add slack for routing, then total the footage. If the sum is well under 500 ft, a shorter spool avoids waste.

How does the 18 AWG gauge with 43 strands perform in a real speaker run?

18 AWG handles typical home stereo runs up to 50 ft per channel with minimal loss. The 43-strand construction keeps the cable flexible for tight bends behind walls or under carpet.

What does the CL2 rating allow for in-wall installation?

CL2 certifies the jacket for in-wall and in-ceiling routing in residential buildings. It meets fire-safety codes for permanent installation without conduit.
