6U Vertical Rack Rail Pair

This pair of 6U vertical rack rails provides mounting points for servers, routers, patch panels or PDUs. The rails are made from cold rolled steel with a black powder coated finish and feature rounded corners. They are designed to attach to a desk, wooden frame or similar DIY structure.

Suits DIY builders needing custom mounting depth

The rails work well for hobbyists or technicians building their own rack frame where standard cabinet depth is not required. Buyers who need adjustable sliding rails for deep servers or tool-less installation in an enclosed cabinet should look at other options.

Pre-tapped 12-24 threading across full length

Every rack unit position is silk screened and pre-tapped with 12-24 threads, and the kit includes enough 12-24 screw sets to populate all six units. This threading pattern is the deciding factor for compatibility with your rack-mount equipment.

Questions about this item

How are the rails mounted to a desk or wooden frame and which step is often missed?

The rails are screwed directly to the surface using the multiple mounting holes along their full length; the step often missed is aligning the silk-screened rack-unit markings before tightening so equipment lines up correctly.

What hardware will need replacement if the original 12-24 screw sets are lost or stripped?

Standard 12-24 thread screws of the same length can replace the included sets; each rack space uses one set so keep spares matching that thread.

At what point does the 6U height limit further equipment additions?

Once six rack units of gear are installed the vertical space is exhausted; no more devices can be added unless a taller rail pair is used.
