Plenum-rated Cat5e cable for fire-safe installs

This NavePoint Cat5e cable carries a CMP plenum jacket approved for use in air-handling spaces. It delivers 350 MHz bandwidth over 1000 ft of solid 24 AWG conductors. The 35 % copper-clad aluminium build balances cost with Category 5e performance. Suitable for indoor and outdoor runs where plenum rating is required.

Replaces standard riser or PVC jacketed Cat5e

Choose this cable when local code demands plenum-rated wiring in ceilings or raised floors. The upgrade is worth it whenever a fire inspector requires CMP classification instead of CMR or CM. It supports the same 350 MHz test frequency as non-plenum Cat5e. No higher category performance is claimed.

Limited to Cat5e speeds and unshielded topology

The 350 MHz rating caps usable throughput at Cat5e levels. CCA conductors exhibit higher resistance than solid copper, so PoE budgets and maximum segment lengths are reduced. The UTP design offers no shield against external EMI. Installers needing Cat6a bandwidth, full copper conductors or shielded pairs must select a different cable.

Questions about this item

What size pull-box does the 1000 ft plenum cable come in for routing through ceiling spaces?

The cable is supplied in a tangle-free pull box that holds the full 1000 ft length for straight pulls through plenum areas

Which tool and connector type correctly terminate the solid 24 AWG CCA conductors without damaging the copper-clad aluminium core?

Use a punch-down tool with Cat5e-rated keystone jacks or patch panels made for solid 24 AWG wire; avoid crimp plugs designed for stranded conductors

How often should the CMP-rated jacket be inspected after installation in a plenum space?

Inspect the jacket annually for abrasion or compression damage, especially at bend points and support hardware, to maintain the plenum fire rating
