Portable TV and DVD player with ATSC tuner

The Naxa NDL-287 combines a 7 inch LCD display, DVD playback and an ATSC digital tuner in one boombox. It receives free over-the-air HD channels and plays CDs, MP3 discs or USB and SD card media. Bluetooth streaming and a 3.5 mm auxiliary input cover phones and other players. Twin speakers deliver 5 W total output.

Battery runtime and screen visibility outdoors

On eight C cells the unit runs long enough for a film or a ball game, but brightness drops noticeably in direct sunlight. The 800 by 480 TFT panel is clear indoors or under cover; viewing angles narrow when you move far off-centre. AC or 12 V DC power keeps brightness steady for extended viewing sessions.

Replaces a separate portable DVD player

Buyers carrying both a disc player and a small analogue TV can consolidate into this single device. The jump is worth it when you want ATSC digital reception, Bluetooth audio and disc playback without mains power. It does not suit users who need a larger screen, HDMI input or built-in rechargeable battery.

Questions about this item

How much heat or fan noise does the 5 W speaker system produce during all-day use?

The unit has twin speakers rated at 5 W total output and no active cooling is mentioned, so it runs silently with only warm air from the amplifier.

Which power sources must I already have to run the NDL-287 away from a wall outlet?

You need a 12 V DC supply such as a car socket or eight C-size batteries, which are not included.

Will my older composite-only monitor or recorder connect to the A/V output on this boombox?

Yes, a composite A/V output is provided so you can feed the video and audio to legacy displays or recorders.
