Versatile FX zoom for everyday shooting

The AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR spans a wide-angle to short-telephoto range with a constant f/4 aperture. Three aspherical and two ED elements reduce aberrations for sharp results. Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings control flare and ghosting. A Silent Wave Motor delivers fast, quiet autofocus with full-time manual override.

UV filter and cleaning kit protect the front element

The bundle adds a 77mm UV filter, tulip hood, blower, cleaning pen, microfiber cloth and starter kit. The filter shields the glass from dust and scratches while cutting ultraviolet haze. The hood blocks stray light to maintain contrast. The cleaning tools keep optics clear during extended use.

F-mount limits native compatibility to Nikon DSLRs

This lens uses the Nikon F-mount and covers the FX image circle. On DX bodies it provides a 36-180mm equivalent field of view. It cannot mount directly on Z-mount mirrorless cameras without an adapter. Aperture control relies on the camera body, so very old manual-focus bodies may not stop the iris down.

Questions about this item

How often should the 77mm UV filter be cleaned or replaced to keep the front element protected?

Clean the 77mm UV filter with the included microfiber cloth and cleaning pen whenever dust or smudges appear; replace it only if the glass becomes scratched or the coating is damaged.

At which focal length does the constant f/4 aperture reach its diffraction limit first during sustained shooting?

Diffraction increases as you stop down; at the 120mm end the same f/22 setting produces a smaller physical aperture, so softness from diffraction appears sooner than at 24mm.

How much heat does the Silent Wave Motor generate when the lens is used continuously for video all day?

The Silent Wave Motor runs cool during extended video use; the barrel remains near ambient temperature because the motor draws minimal power and has no internal focus-group movement that creates friction heat.
