Full-frame 24.5MP sensor

The Nikon Z5II is a compact mirrorless camera built around a 24.5MP full-frame BSI-CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 7 processing engine. It pairs with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 zoom lens for a lightweight everyday kit. The camera delivers high image quality with an ISO range up to 64000, expandable to 204800. It also offers up to 7.5 stops of in-body image stabilization.

Creators needing intelligent subject detection

The intelligent autofocus system automatically detects nine subject types including people, birds, dogs, cats, vehicles and aircraft, using 273 focus points. It achieves class-leading detection down to -10EV for reliable low-light focusing. Photographers who require a higher resolution sensor for large prints or heavy cropping should consider other models. Videographers needing dedicated cinema features or raw video output will also need to look elsewhere.

30fps high-speed shooting

The EXPEED 7 engine unlocks high-speed continuous shooting at up to 30fps with full-frame readout. This capability suits action, wildlife and fast-moving subject photography where capturing the decisive moment is critical. The bright electronic viewfinder is described as 6x brighter than competitor models for clear composition. Buyers who do not need high frame rates may find a lower-specification body better value.

Questions about this item

What Nikon Z-mount lenses can I use with the 24.5MP full-frame sensor on the Z5II?

The Z5II accepts all NIKKOR Z lenses natively and works with F-mount NIKKOR lenses via the FTZ adapter, so any Z-mount optic will cover the full-frame sensor.

Will my existing F-mount NIKKOR lenses focus correctly on the Z5II's 273-point hybrid AF system?

Yes, with the FTZ adapter F-mount lenses retain autofocus and work with the 273-point hybrid AF, including the 9 subject-detection modes such as people, birds and vehicles.

How can I verify the in-body stabilization is delivering the rated 7.5 stops on my Z5II?

Enable the VR icon in the viewfinder, shoot a handheld test at a slow shutter speed, then check the playback info screen — it shows the effective shutter-speed gain the stabilisation provided for that shot.
