Cat 8 cable for 40 Gbps networking

This 10 ft Cat 8 patch cable uses 26 AWG stranded pure copper conductors with double foil and braid shielding to deliver up to 40 Gbps data rates at 2000 MHz bandwidth. Gold-plated RJ45 connectors with 50 micron contacts ensure reliable signal integrity. The PVC jacket is rated for indoor and outdoor use, making it suitable for in-wall runs and exposed installations. Backward compatibility covers Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A and Cat 7 equipment.

Sustained throughput at 2 GHz bandwidth

The 26 AWG oxygen-free copper core reduces resistance for lower signal loss over the full 10 ft length. Each twisted pair is individually foil-shielded and wrapped by an overall braid shield, suppressing alien crosstalk and external interference during continuous high-frequency operation. Molded strain relief and a snagless boot protect the connector latch from damage when routed through tight pathways. The shielded metal connector housing maintains grounding integrity under repeated connect and disconnect cycles.

Upgrade from Cat 6A or Cat 7 for 25 Gbps

Replacing Cat 6A or Cat 7 cables with this Cat 8 link is worthwhile when deploying 25GBASE-T or 40GBASE-T switches, routers or network cards that require 2000 MHz channel performance. Existing Cat 5e or Cat 6 infrastructure will not support those speeds, so the jump is only justified when both endpoints and the intermediate hardware are rated for 25 Gbps or 40 Gbps operation. For 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps networks, lower-category cables remain sufficient.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 26 AWG copper generate when running 40 Gbps all day?

The 26 AWG stranded copper conductors and foil-and-braid shielding produce negligible heat at 40 Gbps; the cable remains at room temperature during continuous use.

What RJ45 ports must my router and PC already have for this Cat 8 cable to work?

Any standard RJ45 jack works; the cable is fully backward compatible with Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A and Cat 7 equipment.

Will the 2 GHz bandwidth and 50 µm gold contacts improve link stability on my older Cat 6 switch?

Yes, the higher 2000 MHz headroom and gold-plated contacts reduce crosstalk and corrosion, giving a more reliable connection on legacy Cat 6 ports.
