  • Extends USB reach to 35 ft with active signal booster
  • Plenum-rated jacket allows safe in-ceiling installation without conduit
  • Center booster design adds up to 15 ft per side for wall-plate flexibility
  • Maintains USB 2.0 electrical and timing compliance over long runs
  • Compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices such as webcams and whiteboards

Pro AV/IT USB 2.0 Active Cable

The Comprehensive Pro AV/IT Active Plenum cable extends USB 2.0 connections up to 35 feet, far beyond the standard 15-foot limit. A centred signal booster buffers data in both directions to maintain USB 2.0 electrical and timing specifications. Its plenum-rated jacket allows safe in-ceiling installation without conduit. The moulded strain-relief design adds durability for permanent AV or IT deployments.

Installers needing long USB runs

AV technicians and IT integrators who must route USB 2.0 devices such as webcams, interactive whiteboards or printers across large rooms or through plenum spaces will benefit from the active extension and fire-rated jacket. Buyers who need longer than 75 feet total reach, require USB 3.x or higher throughput, or want a purely passive cable should look elsewhere.

35-foot active plenum-rated length

The 35-foot active plenum construction is the decisive spec: it overrides the usual 15-foot passive ceiling while meeting building-code requirements for air-handling spaces. The centred booster also permits up to 15 extra feet on either side, enabling a maximum 75-foot link for compatible USB 2.0 and 1.1 peripherals.

Questions about this item

What USB ports must my computer and peripheral already provide for this 35 ft active cable to work?

Your computer needs a USB 2.0 Type A port and the device needs a USB 2.0 Type B port; the cable is also backward compatible with USB 1.1 equipment.

Will the center booster in this plenum cable interfere with a USB 1.1 webcam or printer I keep?

No, the active electronics buffer both directions while staying within USB 2.0 electrical and timing minimums, so USB 1.1 devices operate normally.

How can I verify the 35 ft run is performing to spec after installation?

Confirm the connected webcam, whiteboard or printer enumerates at USB 2.0 speed without drop-outs; the built-in booster maintains compliance across the full length.
