What this adapter does

This USB male to dual PS/2 female Y splitter cable lets you connect a PS/2 keyboard and a PS/2 mouse to a single USB port on a desktop or laptop. The 19 cm white cable includes an integrated chip that enables hot-swap capability and driver-free operation across Windows 98 through 8.1 and Linux systems.

Behaviour under sustained use

The adapter conforms to the USB 1.1 full-speed standard and maintains a stable connection for both input devices during extended sessions. Plug-and-play enumeration occurs each time the cable is inserted, and the two PS/2 ports are freely interchangeable so either device can use either connector without reconfiguration.

The deciding specification

Cable length is 19 cm, which determines whether the adapter reaches from your USB port to the keyboard and mouse without strain. If your setup requires a longer run, this specific cable will not suit the installation.

Questions about this item

Does the 19 cm cable length limit where I can place my keyboard and mouse?

The 19 cm cable reaches from a front-panel USB port to a keyboard and mouse on a typical desk without strain.

Do I need any specific USB port type on my computer for this adapter to work?

Any standard USB Type-A port works; the adapter draws power and data directly from that single port.

Will a PS/2 keyboard with a built-in trackball work through this adapter on Windows 8.1?

Yes, the adapter supports Windows 8.1 and passes both keyboard and pointing-device signals through its dual PS/2 sockets.
