Oatey Primer Purple 30770 16 oz

This purple-tinted primer is formulated for cold weather applications on thermoplastic piping systems. It removes grease, grime and surface dirt while softening the pipe for a fast, secure solvent weld. The product meets SCAQMD 1168/316A and BAAQMD Method 40 requirements. It is recommended for CPVC Schedule 40 and 80 installations where code verification is required.

Application requires standard solvent-weld tools

Apply primer to both pipe and fitting surfaces before cement to ensure proper penetration. The purple colour allows inspectors to verify that primer has been used. Because the formula is extremely flammable, keep away from ignition sources and follow manufacturer handling instructions precisely. Inadequate surface cleaning or skipping primer on large diameters can lead to joint failure.

Verify pipe material, schedule

This primer is intended for CPVC Schedule 40 and 80 systems only; it is not formulated for other plastic or metal piping. Confirm that your project specifications require a purple primer for code compliance. Check that the 16 oz container provides sufficient volume for the number of joints in your installation.
