Ultra-short-throw laser projector

The Optoma ZH430UST is a new ultra-short-throw DLP projector built for home-theatre rooms where the unit sits centimetres from the screen. Its laser light engine delivers 4000 lumens and a 300000:1 contrast ratio at native 1080p resolution for bright, detailed images in living-room lighting.

Connectivity limits in practice

The projector provides HDMI, USB and RJ-45 ports for video, media playback and network control. Wireless casting or Bluetooth audio are not included, so streaming sticks or external audio gear must connect through the available wired interfaces.

Laser engine and daily use

A rated 30000-hour laser life removes lamp-swap chores for years of regular viewing. The ultra-short-throw lens lets the unit rest on a low cabinet, avoiding ceiling mounts and long cable runs while keeping the beam path clear of foot traffic.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 4000-lumen model or a lower-brightness version for a bright living room?

The 4000-lumen rating and 300,000:1 contrast ratio keep images clear even with some ambient light, making this model a strong choice for well-lit rooms.

What does the 300,000:1 contrast ratio actually deliver when I watch a film?

It produces deep blacks and bright highlights together, so dark scenes show detail without looking washed out, especially in a darkened room.

Which connections does the HDMI interface support and what resolution does it cap at?

HDMI carries the 1080p 1920x1080 signal at full quality; the projector does not accept higher resolutions such as 4K.
