Orbram Cat 8 Ethernet Cable 15ft

The Orbram Cat 8 Ethernet Cable is a 15-foot shielded patch cord rated for 40 Gbps and 2000 MHz bandwidth. It uses S/FTP copper construction with 24K gold-plated RJ45 connectors to reduce crosstalk and interference. The flat, braided jacket resists tangling and simplifies routing along walls or under carpets. It targets home-office users, gamers, and IT specialists who need reliable high-speed wired links.

Upgrade from Cat 5e or Cat 6

Replacing older Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables with this Cat 8 cable raises the usable bandwidth ceiling from 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps to 40 Gbps while adding full foil-and-braid shielding. The jump is worth it when the network gear — router, switch, or NAS — already supports multi-gigabit ports and the run stays within the 15-foot length. If the connected equipment tops out at 1 Gbps, the extra headroom will not be used.

40 Gbps headroom for local traffic

At 40 Gbps and 2000 MHz the cable comfortably handles 4K or 8K streaming, large file transfers to network-attached storage, and low-latency gaming across a local network. The 15-foot limit means it suits desk-to-router or rack-to-patch-panel runs but cannot span longer building-wide links without additional switches or extenders. Beyond this length the specified 40 Gbps rate is not guaranteed.

Questions about this item

What clearance does the 4.57 m flat braided cable need under a door or along a baseboard?

The flat profile is only a few millimetres thick so it slips under most interior doors and hugs skirting boards without a visible bump.

How do I seat the 24 K gold-plated RJ45 plugs without damaging the latch?

Push each connector straight in until the tab clicks; pulling at an angle bends the latch and is the most common install mistake.

When should I replace this Cat 8 patch cord to keep 40000 Mbps throughput?

Inspect the braid and plugs yearly; swap the cable if the jacket frays, the gold contacts dull, or the latch no longer locks securely.
