ARC eARC audio extractor

The OREI DA41 converts an HDMI ARC or eARC signal from a television into digital audio through Toslink and coaxial outputs. It handles PCM 2.0 and Dolby or DTS 5.1 formats without passing CEC commands. A USB power cable and international plug adapter are included for immediate setup. The unit operates up to 40 °C and features a power switch with LED status indication.

Home-theatre owners with legacy sound systems

This adapter suits viewers who want to connect a modern TV to an older AV receiver, soundbar or headphone amplifier that only accepts optical or coaxial input. It does not support Dolby AC3, Dolby Digital Plus or volume control via the TV remote, so buyers needing those functions should consider a different solution. Gamers requiring uncompressed 7.1 or object-based audio formats will also find the output limited to 5.1 channels.

HDMI 2.1 cable requirement for eARC

The single specification that decides compatibility is the HDMI cable version: eARC support demands an HDMI 2.1 cable between the TV and the DA41 input, while ARC works with earlier cables. The extractor provides 21-pin HDMI input and dual digital outputs but cannot decode advanced codecs beyond the listed PCM and 5.1 formats.

Questions about this item

Will the DA41 work with my TV's ARC port and still send 5.1 audio to my older receiver?

Yes, it accepts HDMI ARC or eARC input and outputs PCM 2.0 or Dolby 5.1 and DTS 5.1 through Toslink or Coaxial.

How can I confirm the DA41 is passing audio correctly after I connect it?

The front LED indicator shows power status; you should hear sound from your audio device and see the LED lit when the TV ARC port is enabled.

Does the DA41 include the HDMI cable I need for eARC, or must I buy it separately?

The box contains the DA41 extractor, a manual and a USB power cable with a dual-voltage US plug and international adapter; an HDMI 2.1 cable for eARC is not included.
