Four-bay RAID enclosure

The Orico 9858RU3 is a four-bay direct-attached storage enclosure that accepts 3.5-inch SATA drives and presents eight hardware RAID modes including RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, JBOD, CLONE and CLEAR. It targets professionals and small teams who need flexible redundancy or capacity expansion without a dedicated server.

Check drive count and capacity limits

Verify you have up to four 3.5-inch SATA drives and that no single drive exceeds the supported 22TB ceiling, giving a total raw limit of 88TB. The unit connects through a single USB 3.0 cable, so confirm your host has an available Type-A or compatible port and that your operating system can recognise the chosen RAID level.

Aluminium chassis with integrated cooling and power

An aluminium shell and an 80mm silent fan dissipate heat across all four bays while a built-in 150W supply powers multiple drives simultaneously. The enclosure measures 259mm by 146mm by 196mm and uses a safety-lock tray design with LED status indicators, freeing internal PC bays and eliminating the need for a separate RAID controller card.

Questions about this item

Does the ORICO 9858RU3 include any 3.5-inch SATA drives or do I need to purchase them separately?

The enclosure is sold without drives. You must supply up to four 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or SSDs, each up to 22 TB, to reach the 88 TB total capacity.

Which RAID mode should I choose on the ORICO 9858RU3 if I want both speed and redundancy with four drives?

RAID 10 stripes data across two mirrored pairs, giving you the performance of striping plus the fault tolerance of mirroring across all four bays.

What real-world transfer speed can I expect from the USB 3.0 connection on the ORICO 9858RU3?

The USB 3.0 interface combined with SATA 6 Gbps delivers up to 235 MB/s, so large file copies will run at that rate when the drives can sustain it.
