Five-Bay SATA RAID Enclosure

The Orico 9858RU3 is a 3.5-inch SATA enclosure that holds up to five drives in a single aluminum chassis. An integrated 150 W power supply and an 80 mm silent fan keep multiple high-capacity disks running cool under sustained load. A USB 3.0 host link delivers up to 235 MB/s for direct-attached storage workflows.

Suited for Multi-Drive Backup and Archive

This unit serves creators, small offices and home labs that want hardware RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, JBOD, CLONE or CLEAR without a dedicated server. It is not for users who need more than five drive bays or who require a host interface faster than USB 3.0.

Hardware RAID Controller with Eight Modes

The onboard controller manages all eight RAID modes independently of the host operating system, so the array appears as a single volume regardless of the connected PC. This hardware implementation is the specification that determines whether the enclosure matches a workflow that demands OS-agnostic redundancy or cloning.

Questions about this item

What real-world throughput will the 235 MB/s figure deliver inside a computer?

The USB 3.0 link caps at 5 Gbps, so sustained reads and writes top out around 235 MB/s regardless of the SATA 6 Gbps drives behind it.

Which USB standard does the 9858RU3 use and what bandwidth limit does it impose?

It uses USB 3.0, limiting the enclosure to a 5 Gbps signalling rate that translates to roughly 235 MB/s in practice.

What physical space and drive size does the five-bay aluminium chassis require?

The unit measures 259 mm wide, 146 mm deep and 196 mm high and accepts five 3.5-inch SATA drives.
